Paula runs an Ayurvedic Clinic, providing consultations, detox programmes and a range of traditional treatments. The World Health Organisation defines Ayurveda as the world’s most ancient, scientific, holistic and complete system of healthcare. Ayurveda excels in the prevention of disease by providing us with ways to balance our constitutions through a combination of diet, lifestyle, exercise, treatments, herbs, yoga, breathing practices and meditation. The link between body and mind is fundamental – the two are inseparable in Ayurveda. When an imbalance exists, a treatment plan addresses the underlying cause of the imbalance, treating the individual holistically, rather than addressing a set of symptoms. The aim is to remove the cause of imbalance so that health can be restored. Specific attention is paid to the “Agni” (a person’s digestion, absorption/assimilation and elimination), as when this is functioning optimally, one experiences good health and a strong immune system.

Due to COVID19, we are currently only offering consultations and detox programmes. Consultations are available online using Zoom or in-person at the studio. Treatments are not currently available. Please subscribe to our newsletter so that we can keep you up to date on our future plans.

For any queries, please Contact Paula on 087 8399338 or email ayurveda@ashtanga.ie

  • In-person Consultations at the studio – €100

  • Online Consultations – €80

Initial consultations are 60 mins in duration. If a follow-up consultation is required, this takes 30 mins (€50). Any presenting symptoms/health concerns, as well as any significant client/family health history will be discussed. Diet and lifestyle recommendations are made after assessing these in detail. Where appropriate, Ayurvedic herbs are prescribed.

At Ashtanga Yoga Dublin, we offer a mini-detox programme. It is necessary to have a consultation prior to starting a detox. The programme consists of nine consecutive days in total – three days preparation, three main detox days (note: this is not three days of fasting – stewed fruit or kitchari is recommended for breakfast and kitchari is eaten for lunch and dinner), and three days when foods are slowly reintroduced back into the diet. We provide all the organic ingredients for lunch and dinner, as well as a detox tea. We provide recipes to enable you to make these up at home.

During the 3 days preparation and 3 main detox days, you have a total of 5 infra-red saunas to deeply detox the system. We also recommend that you eliminate caffeine, alcohol, meat, fish, eggs, dairy and sugar from your diet during the preparation phase. When these three days of detox are complete, you can slowly reintroduce other foods back into your diet – please note it is recommended that you eat very light meals in the final three days of the detox.

Karna Purana (Ear treatment with warm oil) – €75 (40 mins)

The ear is massaged and warm oil is administered to the ear for 15 mins, and then repeated on the opposite side. The oil is freshly prepared for each treatment, with the appropriate herbs/spices. Karna Purana is a specific treatment for Vata dosha. It is a deeply relaxing and beneficial therapy. It improves hearing, loosens ear wax, reduces ear infections, prevents neck stiffness and strengthens the bones in the ear. The treatment relieves:

Kati Basti (Lower back treatment) – €100 (50 mins)

The lower back is massaged. Warm oil is then poured into a ring (freshly made from chickpea flour) on the lower back, and left there to penetrate deeply into the tissues. After 20 mins the oil is removed and the back is massaged again. This is a complete treatment for the lumbosacral region, alleviating pain, tightness and stiffness in the area. Pooled warm oil lubricates the region and relaxes the surrounding muscles. It strengthens the lower back and is beneficial for all doshas. It relieves:

    – Sciatica
    – Slipped disk
    – Spinal problems
    – Lower spine rigidity
    – Lumbar spondylosis

Shirodhara (Continuous pouring of oil on forehead) – €110 (1 hour)

This treatment begins with a head massage, which is followed by a continuous pouring of warm oil on the forehead. Physiologically, this treatment targets the master glands: pituatary, pineal and hypothalamus. The corpus callosum (which transfers motor, sensory and cognitive information between the brain hemispheres), and basal ganglia are also positively impacted. Energetically, the treatment targets the space between the eyebrows. Shirodhara:

    – Counteracts stress
    – Reduces anxiety
    – Improves sleep
    – Improves memory and concentration

Ubtan (Organic Facial tailored to your constitution) – €85 (1 hour)

This treatment starts with cleansing, followed by a face massage and herbal steam. The Ubtan mix is then applied and left on the face to work its magic! An Ubtan is a blend of 100% natural and organic herbs (in powder form), floral waters and herbal oils. Each Ubtan is freshly prepared and tailored specifically to address any skin concerns the client may have. The four main types of Ubtan mixes available are listed below but we can further tailor these to specifically address any imbalances a client is experiencing.

    – Pitta Ubtan: Soothing and cooling: helps reduce inflammation
    – Kapha Ubtan: Stimulating and cleansing: alleviates oily, congested skin
